CHIEF SANKALE – MAASAI NATION

The Maasai are being evicted forcefully from their ancestral land, and many have been killed, some are in hospitals, others in prison and many displaced from their homes.

The Maasai held a community meeting to agree how to use the donation. The elders decided to use the money to drill water boreholes for the community as accessing water is a big challenge for the people, livestock and wildlife. Having good water access will reduce the competition between the wildlife and humans as there will be enough water for all. As a result the Maasai community will be able to settle in their ancestral land without threats from the Government to relocate them under the guise of water scarcity measures.
