MAASAI NATION
The Maasai Community in Ngorongoro are being evicted forcefully from their ancestral land, many have been killed, others are in prison and many families are displaced from their homes. Chief Sankale raises money to support his tribe and community with various projects to protect them and their way of life, as well as with legal and hospital fees that are a result of the systematic oppression and discrimination.
The donation from Medicine Festival was used to undertake a Borehole Drilling project for the community that addresses the water shortages that are faced by people, livestock and wildlife. It reduces conflict between humans and wildlife and provides support for the Maasai community to stay in their ancestral lands rather than be relocated under the pretense of issues related to water resources.
