Introduction to Vedic Chanting

Introduction to Vedic Chanting

with Craig Nadashakti Norris

Vedic chanting is one of the oldest continuous vocal traditions of the world going back around 3000 years. The vedas are said to be revealed to the Indian rishis while they were in deep meditation at that time. The Sanskrit word veda has as its root the syllable vid, meaning ‘to know’. It is also the root of the English word ‘wisdom’. Implying truths that cannot be directly perceived by the sense organs. Sanskrit as a vibrationary language allows our body to resonate with these truths and improve our physical, emotional and mental health. During this workshop we will engage with these healing vibrations, learning about the rules that are specific to Vedic chanting well as some of the mantras meanings. By chanting together this will give not only our own body, mind and emotions a healing but cleansing and energising the space around us too.
