Swimming Lake Information

At Medicine Festival, we are blessed to have a beautiful Swimming Lake. Many make a pilgrimage to the lake to bathe, swim, cool off, reflect and heal amidst the festival activities, and for many it has become a sacred part of the Medicine experience.

The Swimming Lake is lovingly cared for by our Medicine Festival Water Safety Team, including RLSS UK Open Water Lifeguards and Lake Guardians, and is open to all festival participants during the published opening hours:

Thursday: 11:00 am – 6:00 pm

Friday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

Saturday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

Sunday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

To help protect the lake and ensure everyone can en joy it safely, a maximum of 30 swimmers are permitted in the water at any one time. During busy periods, swimming sessions may be limited to 20 minutes.

Please note that the Sauna Jetty is managed separately by Wasing Estate and must not be used to access the Swimming Lake.

Staying Safe and Well

Please help us protect both yourself and the natural environment by following these simple guidelines:

Enter and exit the Swimming Lake only via the designated jetty.

Do not jump or dive into the lake – it is shallower than it appears.

Stay within the designated swimming area so the Water Safety Team can always see you.

Take extra care on the banks and jetty, as surfaces may become slippery.

Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

Sunscreens, oils, shampoos, soaps and shower gels (including eco-friendly products) are not permitted in the lake, as they can harm its natural ecosystem.

No inflatables, stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) or kayaks.

Stay hydrated, keep warm and shower after swimming where possible.

Before entering the water, take a moment to check in with yourself, both physically and mentally. Listen to your body, respect your limits, and en joy the experience at your own pace.

Please avoid swimming if you are feeling unwell or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Our Medicine Festival Lifeguards and Lake Guardians are here for your safety and wellbeing throughout your visit. Please don’t hesitate to say hello or ask for support if you need it.

We hope your time at the Swimming Lake brings you a moment of peace, connection and joy as part of your Medicine Festival journey.
